  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 3 cups Doritos (crushed)
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add your ground beef. Cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes, ensuring to break it into smaller pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and water according to the package directions, usually about 1/2 cup. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes until thickened slightly, then remove from heat.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef, sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, and 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. Stir until smooth and evenly incorporated.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the crushed Doritos on the bottom to create a crunchy base.
  6. Spread the beef mixture evenly over the Doritos, then top with the remaining crushed Doritos and the rest of the shredded cheese.
  7. If desired, sprinkle diced tomatoes and chopped green onions on top for freshness and color.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving to allow the layers to set.
