- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
- Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, coating evenly, then press both sides into the breadcrumb mixture.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer. Spray the tops lightly too.
- Cook for 10 minutes, then flip each piece and cook for an additional 8–10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- In the last 2 minutes of cooking, add marinara sauce and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top to melt.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For extra crispy texture, let the coated chicken rest for about 10 minutes before air frying.
