A healthier twist on traditional chicken Parmesan featuring crispy air-fried chicken, marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  3. Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, coating evenly, then press both sides into the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer. Spray the tops lightly too.
  5. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip each piece and cook for an additional 8–10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. In the last 2 minutes of cooking, add marinara sauce and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top to melt.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra crispy texture, let the coated chicken rest for about 10 minutes before air frying.
