Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup of sugar (for coating)
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, applesauce, sugar, and vanilla. Heat on medium until it reaches a gentle boil, stirring often.
  2. Once boiling, stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt until you have a smooth mixture.
  3. Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes. Then, pipe small bites onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) while you prepare the bites.
  5. Spray the churro bites lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Place the churro bites into the air fryer basket and cook for about 8-10 minutes or until they’re crispy and golden brown.
  7. While still warm, roll the churro bites in a bowl filled with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
