A creamy, cheesy twist on the classic green bean casserole, perfect for holiday dinners or comforting weeknight meals.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 can (14.5 oz) green beans, drained

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup milk

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup crispy fried onions

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.

3. Add the drained green beans and half of the crispy fried onions to the bowl and mix until well coated.

4. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Bake for 25 minutes until bubbling.

5. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melted.

6. Top with the remaining crispy fried onions before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, try using a sharp cheddar cheese or adding a dash of hot sauce to the soup mixture.

You can substitute fresh or frozen green beans if preferred—just cook them slightly before adding to the casserole.

This dish can be assembled a day ahead and baked before serving.
