  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Mix gently.
  3. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. While the meatballs bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  5. Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bring to simmer. Gradually whisk in cornstarch slurry until mixture thickens.
  6. For the mashed potatoes, cover chopped potatoes and minced garlic with cold water. Boil until fork-tender, then drain and mash with milk and butter.
  7. Fold in salt, black pepper, and parsley to mashed potatoes.
  8. Add cooked meatballs to gravy, toss to coat, and serve over garlic herb mashed potatoes with extra gravy.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh herbs and good-quality beef.
