Ingredients

  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Confectioners’ sugar (for dusting)
  • Edible decorations (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (90°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean, dry bowl, whisk the egg whites and cream of tartar together until soft peaks start to form.
  3. Gradually add the granulated sugar, whisking continuously until the mixture achieves stiff, glossy peaks.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until your desired shade is achieved.
  5. Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheet with space between each.
  6. Bake for about 90 to 120 minutes, or until the meringues are completely dry and lift easily off the parchment paper.
  7. Once cooled, dust with confectioners’ sugar and decorate with edible decorations if desired.
