Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring
- Confectioners’ sugar (for dusting)
- Edible decorations (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (90°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean, dry bowl, whisk the egg whites and cream of tartar together until soft peaks start to form.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar, whisking continuously until the mixture achieves stiff, glossy peaks.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until your desired shade is achieved.
- Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheet with space between each.
- Bake for about 90 to 120 minutes, or until the meringues are completely dry and lift easily off the parchment paper.
- Once cooled, dust with confectioners’ sugar and decorate with edible decorations if desired.
Notes
Ensure your mixing bowl is clean and grease-free for best results. Feel free to customize the color and flavor of the meringues for different occasions.
