Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until thoroughly blended.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix – a few lumps are perfectly fine!
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). You’ll know it’s ready when small bubbles form around a wooden spoon dipped into the oil.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil, allowing them to fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Flip them halfway through for even cooking.
- Carefully remove the beignets from the oil and drain on paper towels to soak up excess oil.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your warm, delicious beignets!
