Delightful classic French beignets, fluffy and dusted with powdered sugar for a perfect indulgent treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until thoroughly blended.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix – a few lumps are perfectly fine!
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). You’ll know it’s ready when small bubbles form around a wooden spoon dipped into the oil.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil, allowing them to fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Flip them halfway through for even cooking.
  6. Carefully remove the beignets from the oil and drain on paper towels to soak up excess oil.
  7. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your warm, delicious beignets!

Notes

For a dairy-free version, swap milk with almond milk. Use gluten-free flour for gluten allergies.
